Kelowna Rockets Draft Shayne McColgan

Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Rockets are pleased to announce they have selected Shayne McColgan as their first round draft pick, 13th overall in the 2008 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Prior to the draft the Rockets made a trade with the Brandon Wheat Kings. The Rockets traded their 10th overall pick for Brandon's 13th overall pick. In exchange the Rockets receive a fourth round selection in the draft.

McColgan was born January 1, 1993. He is a forward from Manhattan Beach, California and was the only US born player to be selected in the first round.

Rockets President/General Manager Bruce Hamilton states, "We are really excited to draft Shayne, as he is one of the top US born players. We look forward to Shayne playing with the Kelowna Rockets in the near future as our scouting staff had him rated as one of the top three players in the draft. Needless to say we are really pleased to have Shayne join the Rockets organization."
