Centre Mark McNeill is Raiders First Round Pick

Calgary, Alberta - The Prince Albert Raiders have selected centre Mark McNeill of Edmonton with their first round selection, fifth overall in the 2008 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft this morning in Calgary.

This past season with the Edmonton South Side Athletic Club McNeill, who is 6', 172 pounds, had 41 goals and 28 assists for 69 points in 33 games, 5th in the Northern Division of the Alberta Major Bantam League in scoring.

"Mark McNeill is a really good skater who has a great playmaker who has very good scoring potential," said Head Scout Dave O'Brien from Calgary. "He shoots the puck very well in full stride. But most of all, he is a great kid who will be a team leader and make his line mates better."

The Raiders have two picks in the second round, their regular pick, 27th overall. They also have the Lethbridge Hurricanes selection at 40th as the result of the trade that saw the Raiders send Jeff May to Lethbridge for two prospects and this pick. The Raiders have five picks in the first three rounds.
