Giants Select Nine Players In Bantam Draft

The Vancouver Giants selected nine players in the 2008 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft in Calgary, Alberta today.

With their first round pick (20th overall), the Giants selected defenceman ZACH HODDER from North Delta, B.C. Hodder spent this past season playing for the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox, SK. The 5'11", 180lbs left-handed defenceman appeared in 17 regular season games for Notre Dame, scoring 12 goals, 17 assists, and collecting 36 penalty minutes.

WIth their next two picks coming in the third round, the Giants selected two more BC-born prospects. Defenceman LUKE FENSKE, a a 6'0", 185lbs. native of Penticton, went 46th overall while CAIN FRANSON, a 5'7", 130lbs. centre from Sicamous was selected 50th. Franson is the younger brother of former Giants defenceman Cody Franson. All of the Giants first three selections in this year's draft represented their respective regions at the B.C. Winter Games last February in Cranbrook and Kimberley.
