MIDLAND, MI---Andy Parrino singled in Felix Carrasco from third base with two outs in the top of the 10th inning to break a 4-4 tie, and the Fort Wayne Wizards went on to defeat the Great Lakes Loons on Monday night by a score of 5-4, in front of 2,345 fans at Dow Diamond.

Parrino's fourth hit of the game came against Great Lakes closer Miguel Ramirez, and followed a one-out walk to Justin Baum, a fielder's choice off the bat of Carrasco, and a single by Yefri Carvajal.

The run scored by Carrasco was the first earned run allowed by Ramirez in 2008, ending a string of nearly 24 innings where had not given up an earned run.

Great Lakes had taken an early lead with two outs in the bottom of the third inning, when Andrew Lambo belted an 0-2 pitch from Wizard starter Jeremy McBryde over the wall in right-centerfield for his seventh home run of the season, scoring both Joe Becker and Jovanny Rosario in front of him, and giving the Loons a 3-0 advantage.

Fort Wayne got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning, thanks to a one-out double by Shane Buschini, which scored both Carvajal and Parrino, each of whom had singled; the three hits all coming off Great Lakes starting pitcher Given Kutz.

Carrasco delivered a two-run single in the top of the sixth inning to give the Wizards their first lead of the game, the hit scoring Robert Perry and Lance Zawadzki (who also singled), and putting Fort Wayne ahead by a score of 4-3.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Alfredo Silverio doubled off McBryde into the gap in left-centerfield with one out in the bottom of the sixth to score Lambo (who walked) all the way from first base, knotting the score at 4-4.

The game remained tied at 4-4 until the Parrino single in the 10th inning, thanks in part to a pair of inning-ending double plays turned by the Fort Wayne infield in the seventh and eighth.

Robert Woodard (2-2), the fourth of five Wizard pitchers on the night, received credit for the win, while Ramirez (1-3) suffered the loss, with Jackson Quezada picking up his 11th save in 11 save opportunities.

Fort Wayne has now won a season-high five games in a row, and will attempt to make it six straight, when they meet the Loons again on Tuesday night.

A pair of left hand pitchers will duel each other on the mound, with Matt Teague (5-2, 3.96) going for the Wizards and Victor Garate (3-0, 2.10) starting for Great Lakes.
