Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL -An appetizing all-you-can-eat buffet. Major-league affiliated baseball. Quality time with family. The Kane County Cougars have all the bases covered for Dad this Father's Day (June 15) as the organization continues its long-standing tradition with a DAY FOR DAD - all part of the Cougars vs. Cedar Rapids Kernels 1 p.m. game at Elfstrom Stadium that afternoon.
Pops might want to skip breakfast as the Cougars are rolling out their popular FATHER'S DAY PICNIC again this season. The high-end menu will be of the all-you-can-eat variety, so Dad would be wise to loosen up the belt. Taking place on our outfield party deck, the buffet includes hand carved and slow roasted prime rib, assorted pastas and potatoes, various salads, appetizers, fresh baked pastries, soft drinks, beer and wine. This event has sold out each year in the past and the Cougars are encouraging all fans to reserve their tables today. Beverages begin at noon and food service kicks off at 12:30. Both food and drink continue until the third inning of the game for picnic-goers.
Before digging into the pre-game spread, all fans can take the field for an opportunity to PLAY CATCH WITH DAD. Unlike other professional sports teams that offer a similar promotion, playing on the Cougars' field is free after purchasing a game ticket, which start at just eight dollars for a general admission spot on the lawn. Just be sure to bring your mitt and a baseball before enjoying a special memory with the rest of the family. Scheduled to take place at noon, Play Catch With Dad is a Father's Day tradition that began more than 15 years ago at Elfstrom Stadium.
Cougars players will take the field, and they want to meet the fans as a special AUTOGRAPH SESSION with the Kane County crew takes place at 12:30. This year's group of talented players began the season 10-0 and are one of the strongest Cougars teams in recent memory, brimming with prospects who hope to become a future member of the Oakland Athletics.
Once game time hits, enjoy our zany BETWEEN-INNINGS PROMOTIONS such as "Sing For Your Splenda", a dueling karaoke contest between two fans who are aspiring vocalists. Those in attendance have also been getting, er, hooked on "Fish Or No Fish", a game-show type of event that requires a trio of contestants to correctly guess whether a word on the video screen is the name of a fish or not.
All fans are invited onto the field immediately following the game to RUN THE BASES. At Cougars games, everyone can touch the same bases the players do - just make sure to have your camera handy and your legs stretched.
Tickets for Father's Day, including picnic reservations, can be ordered in three ways. Fans can call the Cougars directly at (630) 232-8811, order online at www.kccougars.com, or visit the Cougars box office during normal business hours.
