Snappers Bounce Back in 5-0 Win

June 3, 2008 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Behind eight strikeouts and just three hits allowed, Beloit's David Bromberg helped guide the Snappers to a 5-0 victory Tuesday night over the Quad Cities River Bandits. Bromberg picked up his fourth win of the season, going six innings and lowering his ERA to 4.60.

The Snaps got ahead early on a Steve Singleton RBI-double down the right field line. Singleton's double allowed fellow all-star Garrett Olson to score from second base and give Beloit a 1-0 lead.

The defending Midwest League Western Division champs got another run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a Ramon Santana solo homer to left. Santana hammered a ball off Quad Cities' starter Blake King to put the Snaps ahead by a 2-0 score.

Beloit got another three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on two hits and one River Bandit error. The big blast came off the bat of Ben Revere with two outs. Revere delivered a base hit up the middle, scoring two and giving Beloit a 5-0 lead.

Spencer Steedley would make the lead stick, pitching the last inning and a third of shutout relief to claim his fifth save of the season.

Ozzie Lewis and Ramon Santana each had two hits for the Snappers, who improved to 31-27 on the year.
