
Bressoud signed by Angels; assigned to Cedar Rapids

June 3, 2008 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce today that catcher C.J. Bressoud has been signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Angels and assigned to the Cedar Rapids Kernels roster.
Bressoud was a fourth year junior at Columbus State (GA) University and could be signed by the Angels as a free agent without waiting for Thursday's draft. This past season at CSU, he batted .338 (69-204) with 10 HR and 42 RBI in 49 games. He is a native of Kennesaw GA and was named the class 5A Georgia High School Player of the Year at North Cobb HS.
He was originally signed by the Atlanta Braves in 2004, and played 23 games with the GCL Braves, batting .191 (9-47) with four doubles and an RBI. He was released by the Braves before the 2005 season.
Bressoud is in Cedar Rapids and will be in uniform and available for tonight's 7 pm game with the Kane County Cougars. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster stands at 25 active players with one player on the disabled list.
The Kernels are in the midst of an eight game home series with the Kane County Cougars and Burlington Bees. The Kernels host Kane County tonight a 7 pm at Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium with the gates opening at 6 pm.
