West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps, in conjunction with the Detroit Tigers, announced today that Whitecaps RHP Lauren Gagnier will make a spot start for the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens tonight in Louisville. RHP Kelvin Cedano was sent from extended spring training to take Gagnier's spot on the Whitecaps roster.
Gagnier is in his second season with West Michigan and is 1-5 with a 4.07 ERA through 10 starts. After struggling to start the season, the right-hander from Cal. St. Fullerton has posted a 2.25 ERA (36.0ip/9er) over his last six starts with 38 strikeouts. This will be Gagnier's first appearance above the Single-A level.
Cedano went 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA (14.2ip/8er) in eight games with the Whitecaps earlier this season before being sent to extended spring on May 10.
