Dayton, Ohio-Audy Ciriaco delivered two doubles and drove in three runs to lead the West Michigan Whitecaps to a rain-shortened 5-2 victory over the Dayton Dragons on Tuesday night. The game was suspended due to lightning in the sixth inning and called after a delay of one hour and 51 minutes.

The win was the third straight for the Whitecaps in the series while the Dragons suffered their sixth straight loss. Dayton falls to 25-31 on the season. They are five games out of the wildcard slot with 12 games to play in the Midwest League's Eastern Division race.

West Michigan jumped ahead early, scoring once in the second inning and twice in the third against Dragons starting pitcher Jamie Arneson.

The Dragons pulled back within one in the bottom of the third as Angel Cabrera singled to start the inning and Zack Cozart drilled a two-out, two-run home run to left, his fifth of the season, to make it a 3-2 game.

But West Michigan again jumped ahead by three by scoring two more runs in the top of the fourth on Ciriaco's two-out, two-run double to make it 5-2.

The game was stopped in the bottom of the sixth with Dayton batting and Denis Phipps at first base and two outs.

Arneson (0-2) suffered the loss, going four innings and allowing six hits and five runs (four earned) with two walks and three strikeouts.

The Dragons host the Whitecaps in the series finale on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (WING 1410 AM). Matt Klinker (3-3, 3.50) will start for Dayton.
