Syracuse Crunch News Release
OVERALL SHOOTOUT STATS A POSITIVE: The Crunch's 3-2 loss to Manitoba on Friday, February 9 was the Crunch's seventh shootout appearance this season and the 14-round series was the longest in team-history. The next closest shootout was nine rounds played on April 12, 2006 against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, where the Crunch came away with a 2-1 victory. Despite posting a 1-6 record this season, through three seasons the team boasts a 17-13 record. Prior to this season, the Crunch have been very productive when heading into a shootout. In 2004-05, the inaugural year of the shootout, Syracuse made their appearance 14 times in the shootout, boasting a 10-4 record, only to follow it up the next year with a 6-3 record in nine games. It doesn't matter whether the team is at home or on the road either. The Crunch are 8-6 at home and 9-7 on the road during the three seasons.
METHOT MATCHES LAST SEASON: Despite dropping the last four games, defenseman Marc Methot has managed to continue his strong offensive year. On Sunday, February 11, Methot tallied an assist, his 13th point of the season in 50 games. It took him 71 games to hit that mark during his rookie season in 2005-06. In 121 career AHL games, all with Syracuse, Methot has 2 goals, 24 assists and 117 penalty minutes to his credit.
NATIONWIDE INSURANCE COLUMBUS UPDATE: The Blue Jackets went 1-2-0 last week, after being shutout by Phoenix 3-0 on February 6, then defeating Calgary 2-1 on February 8, only to lose to Chicago 5-4 on February 11. Former Crunch Anders Eriksson (1a), Nikolai Zherdev (1a) and Alex Svitov (1g) registered a point over the weekend. Former Crunch goaltender Pascal Leclaire saw his first action since being sidelined with a knee injury on Sunday, February 11 against Chicago in relief of goaltender Fredrik Norrena. Leclaire saw 46:37 minutes of action, stopping 15 of 17 shots faced.
