
Bulldogs' Kostitsyn named CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Hamilton Bulldogs right wing Andrei Kostitsyn has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending February 11, 2007.
Kostitsyn recorded five goals and three assists for eight points in four games last week as the Bulldogs moved closer to the top spot in the AHL's North Division.
Kostitsyn extended his scoring streak to nine games with his impressive week, beginning with a goal in Hamilton's 4-3 overtime loss to Chicago on Wednesday night. He came back with two goals and an assist in a 6-5 overtime win over the Wolves on Friday, then tallied a goal and an assist to help the Bulldogs to a 4-2 win over Philadelphia on Saturday. He closed out the week with a goal and an assist in Sunday's 9-5 win over Rochester, his fifth straight game scoring a goal.
In recognition of his achievement, Kostitsyn will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Bulldogs home game.
A 2007 AHL All-Star, Kostitsyn was the 10th overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. The third-year pro currently ranks second on the Bulldogs in scoring and has already established career highs with 20 goals and 49 points in 48 games this season. He is also fourth in the entire American Hockey League with a plus-23 rating. A 22-year-old native of Novopolotsk, Belarus, Kostitsyn has also appeared in four NHL games with Montreal this season.
