February 12, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves have reassigned defenseman JON AWE to the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL.

AWE has recorded four points (G, 3A) and a +5 plus/minus rating in five contests with Chicago after being recalled twice during the month of January, which includes posting an American Hockey League career-high two assists on Jan. 27. He was held scoreless in two AHL contests with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins earlier this year.

Prior to his recall, the Memphis, Tenn., native led the ECHL with 17 power-play goals, which is a league record for a defenseman, and paced blueliners with 20 goals and 44 points in 37 games with the Gladiators. He participated in the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game festivities and set the record for the hardest shot in the Skills Competition on Jan. 16, with a blast of 102.2 mph.

The 26-year-old blueliner has appeared in 25 career AHL games with the Portland Pirates (2005-06), Providence Bruins (2005-06), Penguins and Wolves, collecting four assists and five points. He was named to the ECHL's All-Rookie Team last season after accruing 14 goals and 35 points in 49 tilts with the Gladiators during his professional debut.
