February 12, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, VA - The Norfolk Admirals have had an eventful past week. All three Admirals shooters converted in the shootout while goaltender Mike Brodeur turned aside all three River Rats attempts, as the Admirals eked out a 5-4 victory over Albany on Wednesday at Scope. The Admirals fell 4-2 to Albany on Friday night at Scope to snap a six-game winning streak and a franchise record fourteen-game home winning streak. Three unanswered goals in the third period by the Portland Pirates led to a 4-2 loss for the Admirals on Saturday night in front of 8,174 fans at Scope.

The Admirals will play one more game at Scope before embarking on a stretch of ten road games over a seventeen day period. Norfolk hosts the Portland Pirates on Wednesday at Scope at 7:15 p.m. They then travel to Albany, Binghamton and Philadelphia, respectively, for a three-games-in-three-nights stretch starting Friday.

TEAM NOTEBOOK

- Martin St. Pierre tied his own franchise record for points in a single season with his 73rd point of 2006-07 on Friday night versus Albany.

- St. Pierre's ten game scoring streak ended on Saturday. From January 17 at Albany to February 9 vs. Albany, St. Pierre had six goals and 12 assists. St. Pierre has now had an eight-game scoring streak, a ten-game scoring streak and an eleven-game scoring streak with the Admirals this season.

- St. Pierre was recalled to the Chicago Blackhawks this morning and RW Troy Brouwer was assigned to Norfolk.

- Kris Versteeg made his Admirals' debut on Wednesday and recorded an assist for his first Norfolk point. The assist also stretched his scoring streak to eight games (4g, 9a) before it ended on Friday versus Albany.

- Dustin Byfuglien is on a six-game scoring streak since January 27 vs. Hershey in which he has three goals and three assists.

- After going 26-1-2 for the first 29 games of the season at home, the Admirals lost two straight at Scope on Friday vs. Albany and Saturday vs. Portland

- After going 22 games in a row without allowing more than one power play goal against, the Admirals' penalty kill allowed three PPG on Wednesday and two on Friday. In three games last week, Norfolk's opposition scored five power play goals in just 12 opportunities.

- The current roster of the Portland Pirates has four former Norfolk Admirals on it: Sebastien Caron, Geoff Peters, Matt Keith and Kent Huskins. The Anaheim organization is also home to former Admirals Shawn Thornton and Travis Moen.
