GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves announced Saturday that Midwest native Dawson Cook has signed a professional tryout contract with the team.
The 22-year-old Cook finished his fourth and final season at the University of Notre Dame on April 7 when the Fighting Irish fell to the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs in the Frozen Four championship game.
Born in Cadillac, Michigan, Cook has spent the majority of his hockey career in the Midwest. He skated two seasons (2011-13) with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program then-based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. With the NTDP, Cook skated in 114 games against both junior and collegiate opponents.
Additionally, he helped the U.S. earn a gold medal at the 2012 Vlad Druzilla Tournament and was a member of the U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team that captured that captured a silver medal at 2013 U18 Worlds.
At Notre Dame, Cook skated in 144 games through four seasons (2014-18) and collected 20 points (11G, 9A). The Fighting Irish earned back-to-back Frozen Four appearances (2017, 2018) and three NCAA Tournament appearances overall (2016-18).
This season, Cook dressed in 38 games and helped Notre Dame claim the Big Ten regular-season championship as well as the conference tournament title.
Cook is expected to wear Jersey No. 32 and make his professional debut Saturday night at Allstate Arena.
The Wolves face the Rockford IceHogs at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at Allstate Arena in the teams' regular-season series finale. Puck drop is 7 p.m., and the game will be televised on CW50.
