Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 17th season in the American Hockey League, announced that goaltender Kevin Nastiuk has been assigned to the ECHL's Alaska Aces. With the move, the P-Bruins have 22 players on their roster, including 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.
Nastiuk, 23, started two games for Providence during his latest recall, going 0-1-0 with a 4.35 goals-against-average. He was recalled from the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators on January 13, where he was 6-8-1 with a 2.95 GAA in 17 games. The goalie leaves the P-Bruins with an overall 0-1-0 mark and 4.18 GAA spanning three AHL outings and two stints.
The Edmonton, Alberta, native went 6-5-2 with a 2.44 GAA last season for the ECHL's Florida Everblades while adding a 4-1-0 mark and 2.31 GAA for the Albany River Rats of the AHL. In his AHL career, Nastiuk is 5-9-3 in 19 games for Providence, Albany and the Lowell Lock Monsters. Meanwhile, the net-minder has posted a 42-25-13 career ECHL record between Gwinnett, Florida and the Las Vegas Wranglers.
Prior to turning pro, Nastiuk played four seasons for the Western Hockey League's Medicine Hat Tigers, winning 40 games in 2003-04 en route to a WHL championship and an appearance in the Memorial Cup.
Nastiuk was selected 126th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in round four of the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
Providence Bruins season tickets, Flex Tix packages and single game tickets are on sale now for the 2008-09 season.
