
Phantoms Win 7-2 Over Pirates

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - The Philadelphia Phantoms dropped the Pirates 7-2 at the Wachovia Spectrum. Patrick Maroon scored a hat trick to help pace Philadelphia.
The Phantoms struck first just 2:15 into the game as Rob Sirianni picked up his third goal of the season from Mike Ratchuk. Sirianni's was the only goal of the first period, as Jhonas Enroth stopped 9 other Phantoms shots. Former Pirate Jean-Sebastien Aubin turned aside all five Portland shots sent his way.
Philadelphia started strong in the second period as rookie Patrick Maroon grabbed his 17th goal of the season just :49 into the frame. David Laliberte and Lasse Kukkonen earned assists on the play. Just 40 seconds later, Maroon tallied another goal. This time the 20 year old scored unassisted as the Phantoms stretched their lead to 3-0. Nearing the midpoint of the period, Philadelphia struck again. Phantoms captain Boyd Kane notched his 10th goal of the season as Lasse Kukkonen picked up his second assist of the night. Kane's goal came at the 8:45 mark and Philadelphia added one more in the middle frame at 9:52. Patrick Maroon finished the hat trick with his 19th goal of the season from David Laliberte and Jonathan Matsumoto and Philadelphia took a 5-0 lead into the third.
The Phantoms continued the offensive onslaught as Boyd Kane grabbed his second goal of the night just :21 into the final frame. Andreas Nodl and Jared Ross earned assists on the play.
Portland finally got on the scoresheet with a goal from Colton Fretter 3:23 into the third. Jared Ross answered back for the Phantoms with his 20th goal of the season at the 11:48 mark and Nate Guenin picked up an assist to make it 7-1. Nathan Gerbe closed the scoring on the night with his 21st of the season at 12:13 of the third. Mathieu Darche and Tim Kennedy picked up the helpers. The Phantoms picked up the win by a final score of 7-2.
Portland netminder Jhonas Enroth stopped 16 of 20 shots sent his way and took the loss. Len DiCostanzo made 7 saves on 10 shots, relieving Enroth twice. Jean-Sebastien Aubin got the win with 25 saves on 27 shots against his former team.
