Albany Devils News Release
LOWELL, Mass. - Led by top scorers Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau and Artem Anisimov, the Hartford Wolf Pack defeated the Lowell Devils, 5-2, on Friday at the Tsongas Arena. Parenteau notched two goals and Anisimov recorded a goal and two assists to give Hartford its first win in five tries against Lowell this season.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the second period, the Devils fell further behind at 11:50 when Anisimov stripped the puck away deep in the Lowell zone and put a backhander past Jeff Frazee into the top of the net.
Hartford would push their lead to 4-0 at the end of the frame with two power play goals in less than two minutes. A centering pass from Brian Fahey that deflected off a skate and under Frazee at 18:05 was credited to Patrick Rismiller.
Parenteau then struck with 8.5 seconds left until the intermission as he pushed in the rebound from Anisimov's bid from the far circle. Frazee would give way to Dave Caruso at the beginning of the third, finishing with 15 saves on 19 shots over two periods of play.
Barry Tallackson breathed some life into the Devils at 4:51 of the third, as he broke down the right wing and beat Matt Zaba with a wrister to the blocker side.
The Wolf Pack went back up by four as Tommy Pyatt fed a trailing Tomas Zaborsky on the far post for a wrist shot that sailed over Caruso at 13:10 of the final frame.
Olivier Magnan picked up his first goal of the season on a laser from the point with just 31 seconds left in regulation.
The Wolf Pack broke the scoreless tie at 10:25 of the first when Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau cut to the slot and drove a slap shot of off Frazee's glove and across the goal line.
Caruso stopped 8-of-9 shots in relief as Lowell suffered its first regulation loss in February after going 4-0-0-2 since the start of the month.
