Friday, December 12

Toledo 2 Wheeling 4

Wheeling extended their win streak to a season high of four games with this win. Neither team scored in the first period as the Storm out shot the Nailers 13-4. Wheeling took a 1-0 lead 47 seconds into the second period on a Brendon Hodge goal. Bogdan Rudenko and Eddie Pershin assisted on the goal. Toledo tied the game 1-1 with a power play goal at 9:03. Mark Kosick gave the Nailers a 2-1lead at 8:02 of the third period with Arpad Mihaly and Steve Crampton assisting. At 11:07 of the third period the Storm scored a 4-on-4 goal to tie the game 2-2. Jake Ortmeyer scored the eventual game-winning goal at 16:18 from Mihaly and Kosick. Mihaly scored the final goal of the game at 18:44 from Crampton. Nick Boucher made 24 saves on 26 shots for his sixth win in his last six starts.

Saturday, December 13

Dayton 3 Wheeling 4

For the fifth consecutive game the Nailers scored the first goal, and for the fifth consecutive game the Nailers won. Jason Jaffray gave the Nailers a 1-0 lead at5:39 of the first period with J.C. Ruid and J.F. Dufour assisting. Dayton tied the game 1-1 at 4:35 of the second period. Jaffary scored his second goal of the game, a 4-on-4 goal, at 16:47 to give the Nailers a 2-1 lead. Eddie Pershin had the only assist on the goal. At 3:52 of the third period the Bombers scored a power play goal to tie the score 2-2. Pershin gave the Nailers their third lead of the game with a goal at 4:44 from Brendon Hodge and Bogdan Rudenko. Toledo tied the game for the third time with a shorthanded goal at 13:48. The final goal of the game was scored by Ruid at 15:53 from Dufour and Jaffray. Boucher extended his personal win streak to seven by making 28 saves on 30 shots.

Sunday, December 14

Atlantic City 7 @ Wheeling 1

The Nailers five game win streak ended with their third loss at home in regulation. Neither team scored in the first period as the Nailers outshot the Bullies 7-4. Atlantic City scored three goals in the first 8:58 of the second period, the last on a power play, to take a 3-0 lead. Arpad Mihaly scored the Nailers only goal of the game at 11:08 of the second period from Mark Kosick and Steve Crampton. Atlantic City scored a shorthanded goal before the second period ended for a 4-1 lead. The Bullies scored three more times in the third period, the last two shorthanded, for the 7-1 lead. Nick Boucher gave up six goals on 24 shots for the loss. Mark Scally made his season debut for the Nailers and gave up one goal.

PREVIEW OF UPCOMING NAILERS GAMES December 15-December 21

Friday, December 19

Peoria @ Wheeling 7:30p.m.

The Nailers host the Rivermen for the first time this season. WWE star Ric Flair will be at WesBanco Arena from 7-9p.m. for an autograph signing. The first autograph is free with each additional autograph costing $10 to benefit the Golden Spike Association Tickets for Kids Foundation. The Nailers will also wear their Holiday Jersey's for the second of three games.

Saturday, December 20

Peoria @ Wheeling 7:30p.m.

The Nailers host the Rivermen for the last game before the Christmas Break. The Nailers will wear their Holiday Jersey's for the final time. The jersey's will be auctioned of to the public with bids for the jersey's being taken at WesBanco Arena through the game.

Nailers Player of the Week:

The Nailers Player of the Week is Arpad Mihaly. Mihaly had four points on two goals and two assists in three games last week. He had a goal and two assists on Friday and the Nailers only goal on Sunday. He also played at a +1 in three games.

Nailers Goaltender of the Week:

The Nailers Goaltender of the Week is Nick Boucher. Boucher ran his personal win streak to seven games with wins on Friday and Saturday. He finished the week with a record of 2-1-0, a save percentage of .863 and a goals against average of 3.82.
