Fresno Falcons News Release
LAST WEEK'S RECORD: 1-2-1 OVERALL RECORD: 8-15-2, 18 pts.
Dec. 9 vs. Alaska, 5-4 Overtime Loss â The Falcons pulled their goaltender and Brad Mehalko sent the game to overtime by scoring with 32.1 seconds remaining in regulation, but Fresno was unable to prevail in the extra session when the Aces tallied the game-winner at the 2:00 mark for a 5-4 victory.
Dec. 10 vs. Charlotte, 4-1 Loss â A red-hot Charlotte Checkers team that would eventually win all six games of a six-game road swing through the Pacific Division defeated the Falcons, 4-1, keeping Fresno winless for a team record-tying ninth straight game.
Dec. 12 vs. Long Beach, 7-3 Win â The Falcons snapped their nine-game winless streak by scoring four goals in the game's final 5:12 to break open a 3-3 tie against the Long Beach Ice Dogs. The club's previous win to that point was also against Long Beach on Nov. 21 at Save Mart Center. Boris Protsenko recorded the team's second hat trick of the season, and goaltender Will Hamele picked up the win in his first career start.
Dec. 14 vs. Las Vegas, 6-3 Loss â On the night Fresno retired the #21 jersey of former Falcon and current Las Vegas Wranglers head coach Glen Gulutzan, the Falcons' all-time leading scorer's team broke a 3-3 tie with three goals in the third period to win 6-3.
