
Mieses Mashes Two Homers as WooSox Snap Losing Streak

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Worcester Red Sox (10-7) snapped their five-game losing streak with a 9-2 victory over the Syracuse Mets (5-11) at NBT Bank Stadium on Saturday night.
Worcester scored in the first inning for a second straight night. After a Triston Casas single, Franchy Cordero smacked an opposite-field double to plate Casas to put the WooSox ahead 1-0 after a half-inning.
The WooSox plated a pair in the second on a sacrifice fly from Yolmer Sanchez and an RBI single from Casas.
Sanchez drove in another run in the fourth inning with a single that scored Jarren Duran.
Johan Mieses blasted a solo homer in the fifth to make it a 6-0 lead.
Cordero singled home two more runs in the sixth. Mieses's second homer came off Stephen Nogosek in the seventh.
Thomas Pannone picked up his first win of the season, tossing six innings while giving up two earned runs on five hits. The left-hander struck out seven and walked one.
The WooSox wrap up the six-game series with the Mets tomorrow afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium. Radio coverage begins at 12:45 p.m. on 98.9 Nash Icon and throughout the WooSox Radio Network.
After an off-day on Monday, the WooSox open a six-game homestand with the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday at Polar Park. Tuesday is the second Take Two Tuesday of the season. Wednesday is a School Day matinee with a school trinket for kids, as well as First Responder Wednesday presented by National Grid. Thursday is another WooU College Night. Friday features post-game Unibank Fireworks. Saturdays have post-game Sunset Catch on the Field presented by Dunkin'. Finally, Sunday will be a Fallon Health Family Funday Sunday and will also feature post-game Kids Run the Bases presented by HP Hood.
