
IronPigs walk their way to series win

Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (9-9) walked 11 times at the hands of the Rochester Red Wings (9-9) pitching staff in their 10-1 win on Sunday afternoon. The IronPigs turned in their first series win of the season.
A wild pitch by Colton Eastman in the top of the second inning gave Rochester a 1-0 lead. Donovan Casey scored on the wild pitch. Eastman proceeded to allow that lone run in 3 2/3 innings pitched.
Donny Sands came through in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run double against Rochester starting pitcher Cade Cavalli. Yairo Munoz and Will Toffey both scored on the play as Lehigh Valley took a 2-1 lead. Cavalli allowed four runs against three hits and two walks with one strikeout in four innings for Rochester.
Lehigh Valley scored two more runs against Cavalli in the bottom of the fifth inning. Austin Wynns walked with bases loaded that scored Munoz. Toffey scored the second run of the inning when Darick Hall grounded out to shortstop. The Pigs extended their lead to 4-1.
Six more runs came across home plate for the IronPigs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Alberto Baldonado walked Toffey with the bases loaded to score Dustin Peterson. John Andreoli followed up with a two-run single that scored Munoz and Toffey. Wynns capped off the inning with a three-run single that gave Lehigh Valley a 10-1 lead.
Mark Appel (3-0) earned the win for the Pigs after pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief of Eastman.
The IronPigs begin a 12-game road trip starting on Tuesday evening. They will start the road trip by playing a six-game series against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
