St. Paul Saints News Release

TOLEDO, OH - The St. Paul Saints can take solace in the fact the next time they face the Toledo Mud Hens it won't be at Fifth Third Field. After 17 consecutive games against the Mud Hens in their ballpark they will finally get them at CHS Field in July. Unfortunately, this trip was the same as the last two as the Saints dropped the finale 8-3 on Sunday afternoon and lost four out of six. They have now dropped 13 of 17 in Toledo. The loss drops the Saints to 10-7 on the season.

The Mud Hens got on the board first in the third as they started the inning with the first four hitters reaching against Daniel Gossett. Zack Short led off with a double down the third base line. Kody Clemens singled to right that advanced Short to third. A walk to Daz Cameron loaded the bases. Josh Lester's RBI infield single made it 1-0 Mud Hens. A sacrifice fly from Ryan Kreidler gave the Mud Hens a 2-0 lead. Gossett went 2.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits while walking three and striking out two

The Saints responded in the top of the fourth. After Elvin Rodriguez retired the first 11 men of the game, Jose Miranda was the Saints first base runner with a two out double down the left field line. Mark Contreras made it 2-1 with an RBI single to center, taking second on a fielding error by Daz Cameron in center. Curtis Terry tied it with an RBI single to center.

In the fifth, the Mud Hens used two long balls to regain the lead. The first two hitters of the inning walked against Cole Sands. Jack López then hit a three-run homer to left, his second of the season, putting the Mud Hens up 5-2. With one out, Kody Clemens went deep over the right-center field wall, increasing the lead to 6-2. Cameron then singled, stole second and scored on an infield single from Kreidler giving the Mud Hens a 7-2 lead. Sands went 1.0 inning allowing five runs on four hits while walking two.

Terry came through for the Saints in the sixth after Miranda walked with one out. With two outs, Terry roped a double to left-center scoring Miranda cutting the deficit to 7-3. Terry finished the day 2-4 with a double and two RBI.

The final run came in the bottom of the eighth on the third home run of the game for the Mud Hens as Short hit a solo shot to left, his first of the season.

The Saints are off on Monday and begin a six-game series on Tuesday night at CHS Field against the Nashville Sounds (Milwaukee Brewers) at 6:37 p.m. The Saints are TBA and the Sounds send RHP Jason Alexander (3-0, 2.40). The game can be seen on the Saints Broadcast Network, cable access channels in and around the Twin Cities, and MiLB.TV and heard on KFAN Plus, 96.7 FM.
