
First Inning Power Leads Storm Chasers to Victory

Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Omaha Storm Chasers scored eight runs in the top of the first to beat the Memphis Redbirds, 9-7, on Sunday afternoon.
Kyle Isbel led off the game with a solo shot to right field, which was his first home run of the season. Omaha loaded the bases for Brewer Hicklen, who hit a sac fly that scored Nick Pratto. The next batter was Dairon Blanco who hit a 3-run home run to clear the bases. Before the top of the first inning was over Johan Oviedo (Loss, 1-2) was pulled and replaced by Thomas Parsons. He would be greeted by Isbel who hit a two-run double, to get his third RBI of the day. The runs in the first didn't stop there, MJ Melendez hit a double that scored Isbel. The Storm Chasers would exit the first inning with of lead of 8-0.
Clay Dungan led off the second inning with a solo shot and grew Omaha's lead, to 9-0.
In the bottom of the fourth, Nolan Gorman hit a two-run shot off Jonathan Heasley (Win, 1-0). The runs didn't stop there for Memphis that inning, Ali Sanchez would hit an RBI groundout to score Alec Burleson, who got on off a triple to bring the score to 9-3.
Heasley goes 6.0 strong innings and is Omaha's first starting pitcher to record a win this season.
In the seventh, Josh Dye comes in from the bullpen and gives up a solo shot to Burleson, which brought the score to 9-4.
Right-hander Colten Brewer came in for the eighth and gave up his first run of the season which was an RBI single to Juan Yepez, that scored Brendan Donovan.
Jace Vines got the ninth and gave up a two-run shot to Donovan which brought the score to 9-7. Vines couldn't get out of the 9th, and right-hander Jose Cuas came for the save.
Omaha won 9-7 and split the series with Memphis. The Storm Chasers are now 9-9 on the season.
The Storm Chasers return to Werner Park on Tuesday afternoon to face Toledo. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. and coverage begins at 11:50 a.m. with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone.
