BUFFALO, NY - Playing in the final game of a six-game set against the Scranton-Wilkes/Barre RailRiders, the Buffalo Bisons shutout the RailRiders 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Sahlen Field to win the series four games to two. The Bisons have yet to lose a series so far and sit at 11-7 through the first three weeks of the season.

After a couple of tough outings on the road in Rochester last week, righthander Thomas Hatch was excellent in his first home start of the season. Hatch threw six shutout innings and allowed just two hits while punching out four. He did issue out three walks, but immediately erased two of them thanks to a 5-4-3 double play in the second, and a laser from Gabriel Moreno to throw out the stealing Estevan Florial in the third.

RailRiders' starter Manny Banuelos was very good as well, giving up just one earned run over 5.2 innings. The only blemish for the southpaw was a double given up to Samad Taylor who, after stealing third, came around to score on a sac fly from Josh Fuentes in the second. The Herd tacked on another run the following inning with some help from RailRiders' shortstop Oswald Peraza, whose two-base error put Logan Warmoth into scoring position with nobody out. Nathan Lukes then cashed him in on a one-out double two batters later.

The Bisons had their biggest inning in the seventh, headlined by a two-run double from Nick Podkul off Scranton reliever Reggie McClain, who issued two walks and hit two batters over the course of the inning. Andrew Vasquez then threw a harmless seventh for Buffalo, Kyle Johnston followed with 1.2 innings of scoreless ball, before Matt Gage came on and finished off Greg Bird to cap off the shutout.

After an off day tomorrow, the Bisons will travel to Worcester for a six-game series against the WooSox beginning on Tuesday. The WooSox feature three of the Red Sox' top six prospects, including 1B Triston Casas (No. 2 according to MLB Pipeline), OF Jarren Durran (No. 4), and SS Jeter Downs (No. 6). Tuesday's series opener is set for 6:45 p.m. EST, with Casey Lawrence set to face off against Connor Seabold.
