LOUISVILLY, KY - Robel Garcia hit 875 feet of home runs on his pair of big flies to lead the Iowa Cubs to an 8-4 win over the Louisville Bats Sunday afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field. Despite the defeat, the Bats secured their first non-losing series of the 2022 season with a 3-3 split with the I-Cubs.

Garcia bombed the sixth-longest home run in the history of Louisville Slugger Field with a 475-foot solo homer in the top of the fourth. Two innings later, he crushed a 400-foot two-run shot to wrap up a solid performance at the plate for Iowa.

The Bats plated their first run when Ronnie Dawson singled in the third and crossed home on an RBI knock from Allen Cordoba. Dawson finished the six-game series with nearly a .500 on-base percentage courtesy of his eight hits and four walks.

Louisville's run scored was the first tally against opposing starter Robert Gsellman this season.

Gsellman ultimately earned the win for Iowa, finishing with one run allowed on seven hits with three strikeouts in 5.0 innings.

Albert Almora then pushed across the Bats' second run with a two-out drive into center in the bottom of the seventh and Cordoba followed with his second RBI single of the game. Cordoba and Almora combined for six hits (including Louisville's first four-hit game by Almora) and three RBI in Sunday's defeat.

Trey Amburgey also homered in the eighth to pull Louisville within 8-4.

The Bats will enjoy a day off Monday before beginning a six-game series in Columbus. First pitch Tuesday against the Clippers is 6:15 p.m. at Huntington Park.
