BUFFALO, NY (April 23, 2022) - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders won their second straight against the Buffalo Bisons on Friday night by a 7-4 final at Sahlen Field. José Peraza and Greg Bird homered in the RailRiders' victory.

Peraza got the RailRiders on the board in the second inning. His first home run of the season sailed over the left center field wall. after an error plated a run in the third, Bird launched a no-doubt home run to the parking lot in right field for his second long ball of the season. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre jumped out to a 6-0 lead before surrendering a lone run in the third on a single.

Matt Krook made his first start at Sahlen Field in his career. The left hander allowed just one run in his first four innings. However, Krook could not get out of the fifth after walking four. Two runs scored in the inning to make a 7-3 game. Zach Greene relieved Krook. He struck out four in a clean 1.2 innings while earning a win (2-0).

After SWB added one more, Buffalo made the game close with three runs across the final five innings but couldn't finish their comeback bid. Greg Weissert recorded the final five outs for his second save of the season. Bisons' starter Nick Allgeyer (1-1) was charged with all seven runs (six earned) in four innings and took the loss.

NEWS & NOTES

FIRST THINGS FIRST - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders look to win three straight today as they face the Buffalo Bisons at Sahlen Field for the final game of a six-game set in Western New York. Yesterday's win was their second against the Bisons this season for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by a 7-4 final. It was their sixth road win in ten road games.

MANNY B - Manny Bañuelous will make his second start, third appearance of the season this afternoon. He is coming off a solid four shutout innings of work against a potent Norfolk offense, allowing just one hit his last time out. This will be his second career outing against the Bisons. The only other time he faced Buffalo was April 12, 2012, allowing two earned runs on three hits in two innings of work. That lone appearance occurred over 10 years ago at Coca-Cola Field (now Sahlen Field).

HATCH TRICK - Thomas Hatch takes the ball in today's finale for Buffalo. Hatch is making his third start after allowing ten earned runs in just eight innings of work this season. He is the number 18 prospect in the Blue Jays system, according to Baseball America. He is the only starting pitcher in the BA Toronto top-30 that the RailRiders will face in this series. Hatch's four-seam fastball can reach 98, living in the low to mid 90's. He also throws a two-seamer, changeup and slider.

GETTIN' MIGGY WITH IT - Miguel Andújar enters today tied for the team lead in home runs with three alongside Matt Pita. Andújar's three home runs have come across his last eight games played in (9.6 at bats per home run during stretch). The slugger appeared in 16 games last season for the RailRiders while swatting five home runs in that brief stint. Entering Saturday, he has hit a total of 60 career Minor League home runs in 2,380 at bats (39.67 at bats per home run rate).

PITA HOT - Matt Pita has hit a three-run home run in back-to-back games played in. He had driven in six of eight Scranton/Wilkes-Barre runs from game two Wednesday to Thursday. His third home run of the season, occurring in game three of this series, came on his 25th birthday. Including the 2021 season, he has now hit ten home runs in 34 Triple-A games. Prior to making his Triple-A debut last year, he had hit four home runs in a total of 149 Minor League games. Pita has appeared in seven games for the RailRiders this season and currently holds a .429 batting average. He also enters today leading the team runs batted in (9), tied for the team lead in home runs (3) and is third in total bases (17).

THE BRIGHT SIDE - Entering Sunday, RailRiders batters have struck out the fewest times in the International League (130)... Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is one of just three International League teams to have been caught stealing only once (Nashville and Rochester)... The RailRiders have hit a home run in eight of their last ten games including every game this series...

STREAKY - The RailRiders have hit a home run in five straight games... Oswaldo Cabrera has hits in back-to-back games after going 0-17... Ender Inciarte lost his nine game on base streak yesterday. It's tied with Ronald Guzmán for the longest streak for any RailRider this season... Ryan LaMarre lost his five game on base streak yesterday (4-13, 2B, 2 HBP, 2 BB, 2B)... David McKay has not been charged with a run in three straight outings... Reggie McClain has not allowed a run in back-to-back outings...

QUICK HITS - The RailRiders have not won three straight games since winning four straight to begin the season (April 8)... SWB catchers have caught just two of 26 would be base stealers this season (.077 CS%)...

BYE, SON - The RailRiders snapped a three game losing streak to the Bisons with Friday's win. The victory also ended a ten game losing streak against Buffalo, dating back to the 2021 season. The win was the RailRiders first against Buffalo since June 13, 2021. It was their first win at Sahlen Field since June 5, 2019.

ON DECK - The RailRiders will return home after an off day on Monday to host the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for the first time this season in game one of a six-game set. It's 'Twosday" at PNC Field: Get 2-for-1 lawn or bleacher seats online only. While there, fans can also enjoy $2 Landshark Lager tallboys for two hours after gates open.

AROUND THE ORG - The Yankees (9-6) walked off on the Cleveland Guardians (7-7) yesterday 5-4. Isiah Kiner-Falefa doubled home Tim Locastro to tie the game. Gleyber Torres singled home the winning run to win the series. New York looks for the series sweep today at 1:35 PM in the Bronx. Gerrit Cole faces Aaron Civale... Blake Perkins smacked two home runs and drove in four runs to lead the Somerset Patriots (8-6) to a 7-4 win over the Hartford Yard Goats (7-7)... The Hudson Valley Renegades (7-7) pitching dominated, striking out 15 and one-hitting the Brooklyn Cyclones (8-6) in a 2-0 win. Edgar Barclay fired four innings of one-hit, shutout ball... The Tampa Tarpons (6-8) fell to the Clearwater Threshers (6-8) 3-0...
