Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - Bulls designated hitter Curtis Mead crushed a home run and drove in four runs, while right fielder Kameron Misner mashed a two-run shot as Durham defeated the Nashville Sounds 7-3 on Tuesday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Following a two hour and fifty minute rain delay, the Sounds got the scoring started with a tally in the opening frame. The Bulls, however, would even the contest thanks to Mead's RBI double in the third. Misner would smash his go-ahead two-run blast in the fourth to make it a 3-1 Durham advantage, before Mead clubbed a three-run blast one inning later to make it 6-1. LF Niko Hulsizer's RBI double off the left field wall later in the fifth capped the Bulls' scoring, while Nashville added two late scores in the seventh and final frame.
Mead (2-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI) and 2B Ronny Simon (2-3, 1 R, 1 BB) each collected a team-high two hits for the Bulls. Sounds 2B Abraham Toro (2-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB) and RF Owen Miller (2-4) added multi-hit efforts as well.
Durham right-hander Cooper Criswell (3.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO) earned the victory in support of starter Jacob Lopez (3.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 4 SO). Nashville starter Evan McKendry (4.1 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 6 SO), meanwhile, suffered the defeat.
The two teams are scheduled to face off in the second game of their six-game set on Wednesday, August 30, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm. RHP Nathan Wiles is expected to get the nod for the Bulls, Milwaukee Brewers RHP Julio Teheran scheduled to start for the Sounds as part of a Major League Rehab Assignment.
Tickets for that game and all remaining 2023 Durham Bulls home games are available, and can be purchased at DurhamBulls.com, or by calling 919.956.BULL.
