Gwinnett Stripers News Release
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Rehabbing Atlanta Braves right-hander Kyle Wright allowed three runs on three hits over 1.2 innings on Wednesday night as the Gwinnett Stripers (58-68) lost 7-1 to the Memphis Redbirds (63-65) at AutoZone Park.
Decisive Plays: Wright (L, 0-2) yielded a two-out, two-run double to Irving Lopez before exiting in the second inning. Lucas Luetge replaced him and allowed RBI singles to Matt Koperniak, Lars Nootbaar, and Nick Dunn to make it 6-0 Memphis. The Stripers ended the shutout in the eighth on a two-out RBI single by Jesus Aguilar, but the Redbirds got that run back in the bottom of the eighth to win 7-1.
Key Contributors: Forrest Wall (2-for-4, run, stolen base) and Braden Shewmake (2-for-4, double) combined for four of Gwinnett's six hits. Aguilar (1-for-4, RBI) had the lone RBI. Dylan Dodd pitched 5.1 innings in relief, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out four. For Memphis, Adam Kloffenstein (W, 2-0) spun 5.0 scoreless, two-hit innings and struck out seven. Lopez went 1-for-2 with the double and two RBIs.
Noteworthy: Vaughn Grissom went 1-for-3 with a single, extending his on-base streak to 38 games and hitting streak to 10 games. The on-base streak is tied for the second-longest in Gwinnett history, alongside Jose Constanza (38 games from June 20-August 21, 2012). Wall's 52nd steal ties his career high, set last year with Triple-A Tacoma.
