Maxwell, Thauwald Sign With Grizzlies

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has signed forward Scott Thauwald and defenseman Tim Maxwell.

The Grizzlies are proud to be the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport.

Thauwald joins the Grizzlies from the ECHL's Augusta Lynx who ceased operations last week. In Augusta, the former captain at Colorado College, tallied four goals and one assist in 17 games of his current rookie season.

Maxwell is set to make his professional debut with Utah after 11 games this year with Bowling Green State University. In 98 total college games, including his freshman year at the University of Maine, he tallied three goals and 32 assists in 88 games. Maxwell spent last week working out with the AHL's Chicago Wolves.

Colley also announced today that forward Justin Johnson and defenseman Reagan Leslie have been released.

Utah returns home Tuesday hosting Stockton at the E-Center. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
