
RoadRunners Sign Forward Mark O'Leary

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and the Worcester Sharks, announced today the signing of free agent forward Mark O'Leary.
O'Leary, 23, has four assists and 17 penalty minutes in 15 games this season between the Reading Royals and the Trenton Devils. The Owen Sound, Ontario native and third-year professional was traded by the Devils to the Augusta Lynx on Nov. 30 and became a free agent when the Lynx suspended operations on Dec. 2.
O'Leary registered 11 goals, 31 points, and 141 penalty minutes in 103 games during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League. He earned a call-up to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League on March 12, 2008 and scored a pair of goals and finished with a plus-three rating in his AHL debut in a 7-1 victory that evening against the Toronto Marlies. O'Leary collected three goals, four points, and 29 penalty minutes in 16 games with the Griffins.
O'Leary played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Mississauga IceDogs and the Guelph Storm and totaled 18 goals, 33 assists, 51 points, and 242 penalty minutes in 182 games. He is the son of current RoadRunners' assistant coach Brian O'Leary.
The RoadRunners open a brief two-game road trip at 8:05 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 when they visit the Victoria Salmon Kings at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in the opener of a weekend series. Catch all the action live on Independent 1310 KXAM beginning with "RoadRunners Countdown" at 7:45 p.m.
Phoenix returns to US Airways Center at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 as they welcome the Utah Grizzlies for a two-game series.
