Matt Donovan Loaned to Sound Tigers

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Feb. 8, 2014) - The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman Matt Donovan has been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL).

Donovan, 23, has split time between the Islanders and Sound Tigers in 2013-14. He began the season with the Islanders before a 17-game stint with the Sound Tigers. In those 17 games, he notched 14 points (three goals, 11 assists). With 112 points as a Sound Tigers, Donovan is the all-time franchise leader in that category for defensemen, and also ranks 11th among all players. In 36 games with the Islanders this season, Donovan has seven points (one goal, six assists). The Edmond, OK, native was drafted by the Islanders in the fourth round (96th overall) in 2008.
