
Hamilton Fights Back for 5-4 OT Win

OTTAWA, ON - Binghamton fell 5-4 to Hamilton in overtime at the Canadian Tire Centre despite a 3-1 lead after the first period. Joe Tinordi scored 4:30 into the overtime period to give Hamilton the come from behind victory. Nathan Lawson stopped six of seven shots faced in the opening period before an ailment held him out of the remainder of the contest.
Binghamton jumped out to the early lead 2:03 into the opening period when Shane Prince beat Bulldogs goaltender Robert Mayer for his 14th goal of the year. Andre Petersson fed a streaking Prince past the Hamilton defense where he wristed the puck over Mayer to give the Sens a 1-0 lead. Hoffman notched his first of two goals on the night under four minutes into the contest on a tic-tac-toe passing sequence from Stephane Da Costa and Cole Schneider. Hoffman added his second tally at 12:19 to make it 3-0. Hoffman took a feed from Schneider from the top of the right faceoff circle and beat Mayer high for his 25th goal of the year. Mike Blunden notched the Bulldogs first goal on the power play at 18:48 sending the teams to the locker room with Binghamton leading 3-1.
Andrew Hammond started in net for the second period as Hamilton stormed back with two goals from Gabriel Dumont and Maxime Macenauer to cut the B-Sens lead to 3-2. However, Petersson tallied his 16th goal of the season with less than one minute to play in the period to give the Senators a 4-3 lead heading into the final intermission.
The Bulldogs pressured hard the final 20 minutes of play coming up with the equalizer at the 15:16 mark. Christian Thomas redirected a shot past Hammond for his seventh goal of the year to tie the game at 4-4. Hammond stopped the remainder of shots faced while Mayer did the same sending the game into overtime.
Both teams garnered great chances on net during the extra frame, but it was Tinordi's second goal of the year that proved to be the difference maker giving the Bulldogs a 5-4 win.
Binghamton was led by Hoffman finishing with two goals and an assist while Dumont and Tinordi both tallied a goal and an assist to lead Hamilton. Hammond finished with 29 saves on 33 shots faced in the losing effort while Mayer earned his fifth victory of the season with a 36 save effort.
