Toronto Marlies News Release
A proud member of the American Hockey League, the Toronto Marlies will hold their first annual book drive during their next two home games at Ricoh Coliseum, beginning this Sunday against the San Antonio Rampage - AHL affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes - at 4:00 p.m. In addition, the first 5,000 fans in attendance on Sunday will receive a Joe Nieuwendyk bobblehead when they enter through the gates.
Marlies fans attending the next two home games are encouraged to participate by donating a new or used book to the Marlies Better Halves during the game. For each donation, fans will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win Marlies prizes, including autographed merchandise and Marlies tickets. The books will be donated to 'The Children's Book Bank', a charitable organization designed to support children's literacy by providing free books and literacy support to children in lower income neighbourhoods.
The Marlies play their next two games in Grand Rapids against the Griffins - AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings - beginning tonight at 7:00 p.m. Toronto returns home on Sunday to take on the Rampage at 4:00 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum. Sunday's game will air live on Rogers TV Cable 10 in Toronto and 63 in Scarborough. Fans can listen to all Toronto Marlies regular season games on THE FAN 590 or fan590.com.
