Portland, ME, March 20, 2009: Patrick Rissmiller had a goal and two assists to lead the Hartford Wolf Pack to a 3-1 victory over the Portland Pirates Saturday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Combined with Providence's 1-0 shootout loss to Albany, the win moved the Wolf Pack (39-25-3-3, 84 points) one point ahead of the P-Bruins and into sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Division.

P.A. Parenteau and Brian Fahey also scored for Hartford, and Miika Wiikman made 22 saves for his 20th win of the season.

The Wolf Pack were shorthanded four times in the first period, and the Pirates cashed in on the second of those opportunities for a 1-0 lead. Nathan Gerbe scored his 25th of the season on a flip of a shot from the left point that went through a screen and slipped past Wiikman.

Hartford answered in a four-on-four situation at 19:02. Rissmiller poked the puck away from Mike Kostka at the Wolf Pack blueline, moved down left wing and put a hard slapshot past the stick side of Portland netminder Jhonas Enroth.

The Wolf Pack dominated the second frame, outshooting the Pirates 16-4, and they would score a pair of goals..

A veteran line of Rissmiller, Parenteau and Mark Bell hooked up on a sharp three-way passing play at 5:12, with Parenteau deflecting Bell's pass behind Enroth from the right-wing side of the goalmouth. Then at 14:17 on a power play, Brian Fahey snapped a shot from the left point past Enroth's glove.

The victory was the Wolf Pack's fourth in the last five games, and Hartford is 12-2-1-0 in the last 15 games. The Wolf Pack swept their four regular-season visits to Portland.
