Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose are pleased today to announce the investiture of Jim Ludlow, President & Chief Executive Officer of True North Sports & Entertainment Limited, as Honorary Colonel of the Canadian Forces Air Navigation School (CFANS). He was presented the honor in a formal ceremony at 17 Wing Winnipeg on Friday, March 20th, 2009.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, HCol Ludlow attended the University of Manitoba, earning a B.A., and Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, where he received his law degree. For the past nine years, Ludlow has served as the President & Chief Executive Officer of True North Sports & Entertainment Limited. In that capacity, he provides strategic, management and financial leadership to True North and its wholly-owned operating subsidiaries, the MTS Centre and the Manitoba Moose.

An active member of the Winnipeg community, HCol Ludlow also serves as a member of the board for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and is currently chairman of the Board for CentreVenture Development Corporation. He was recently appointed to the Board of Alpine Canada, the governing body for alpine ski racing in Canada where he also sits on the Lake Louise World Cup Committee.

As an Honorary Colonel, Ludlow will be asked to represent the unit, the Air Force and the Canadian Forces as a whole and generally help foster the close ties between the unit and the local community. The military's request for assistant from an HCol may include fostering esprit de corps, promoting the Unit's interest in the local community, developing, promoting, and sustaining strong community support for the unit and assisting the Unit in hosting parades and other functions.

The Moose and Canadian Forces have a strong working relationship within the community. For the past four seasons, the Moose pay tribute to the Military with their annual Manitoba Moose Military Appreciation Night. This year, the Moose and Military were pleased to present the theme of "Military Families: Strength behind the Uniform" at this year's game versus the Providence Bruins on March 7th at the MTS Centre. The Manitoba Moose Military Appreciation Night served to not only thank the military members for their contributions, but to show gratitude to the soldiers' families for the immense support they provide every day. As many as 1,500 service members and their families were on hand when the Moose beat the Bruins 2-0 at MTS Centre.
