Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
LONG BEACH, Calif. â The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that goaltender Chris Madden and center Marco Rosa have been selected to represent the National Conference All-Star Team at the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game. The game will be played in Reading, Pennsylvania this year on Wednesday, January 26th.
Madden is in the midst of a career year in Long Beach. Originally a 4th Round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, he boasts a 12-2-0 record, leads the league with a .956 save percentage, and is second with three shutouts and a goals against average of 1.64. He will be making his second ECHL All-Star Game appearance, having represented the Macon Whoopee in 2002. His stellar play has vaulted the Ice Dogs to within one point of first place in the West Division and the third best record in the league.
Rosa is one of the bright young stars who will be showcased at the All Star Game this year. Playing in his first professional season, Rosa was a college standout at Merrimack College the last four years, being voted the best defensive forward in New England college hockey in 2004. Originally an 8th Round selection of the Dallas Stars in 2001, he is currently fourth in scoring for Long Beach with 20 points in 30 games (9 goals, 11 assists).
The Ice Dogs next home game is Wednesday, January 12th, when they take on the Victoria Salmon Kings. Good seats are still available. Call (562) ICE-DOGS or visit www.icedogs.com for more information.
