Tessier Selected as Starter in ECHL All-Star Game
January 6, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - Fresno Falcons captain and leading scorer Dan Tessier has been selected by ECHL coaches, players and media representatives as a starting forward for the National Conference during the ECHL's All-Star Game at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa., on Jan. 26.
Tessier currently leads the Falcons with 29 points (11g-18a), which ties him for 16th in the league scoring race. He is tied for second across the ECHL with three short-handed goals, and his four game-winning goals this season are the third highest total in the league. The fifth-year pro captained the Ottawa 67's to the Memorial Cup title in 1998-99 and split time last season between the American Hockey League's Toronto Roadrunners and the ECHL's Columbus (Ga.) Cottonmouths.
Tessier was selected as one of six starters for the National Conference out of the more than 300 players currently skating for teams in the ECHL's North and West Divisions. Fresno competes in the West Division and was represented at last year's All-Star Game by former Falcons defenseman Kevin Truelson.
The National Conference will battle the American Conference, made-up of teams in the East and South Divisions, in both the Skills Competition on Jan. 25 and the All-Star Game itself on Jan. 26 at the Sovereign Center, home of the North Division's Reading Royals.
The rest of the National Conference starters, including current Las Vegas Wranglers captain and former Falcons defenseman Jason McBain, are:
Goalie - Dany Sabourin, Wheeling Nailers
Defense - Jason McBain, Las Vegas Wranglers
Defense - Brad Dexter, Victoria
Forward - Luke Curtin, Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies
Forward - Brent Kelly, Johnstown Chiefs
Forward - Dan Tessier, Fresno Falcons
Coaches - Matt Thomas, Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies and Mike Haviland,
Trenton Titans
