
Equipment Managers, Trainers Named For Coors Light All-Star Game

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Thursday announced the equipment managers and
trainers for the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game. The All-Star
equipment managers and trainers were chosen in a vote of their peers in
their respective conferences.
Wheeling's Dave Hanna will be the athletic trainer and San Diego's
Matt Mitchell will be the equipment manager for the National
Conference while Greenville's Mark Burgess will be the athletic
trainer and Pensacola's John Krouse will be the equipment manager
for the American Conference. Reading equipment manager Russ Holden
and Royals athletic trainer Brian Grogesky were also selected to
work the game.
The 2004 ECHL Equipment Manager of the Year, John Krouse is in his
sixth season with Pensacola. Born and raised in Rome, N.Y., Krouse began as
an assistant equipment manager for his brother Richard with Utica in the
Colonial Hockey League and at the age of 19 he became head equipment
manager for Winston-Salem in the Southern Hockey League. He was head
equipment manager for Peoria of the ECHL for three seasons before joining
the Ice Pilots.
Matt Mitchell is in his fifth season as the equipment manager for
San Diego. A native of Binghamton, N.Y., Mitchell was the equipment manager
for Binghamton of the American Hockey League and New Mexico of the Western
Professional Hockey League while also working two seasons as the assistant
equipment manager for the New York Rangers.
Dave Hanna is in his sixth season as head athletic trainer for
Wheeling. Hanna works for the Nailers through Wheeling Hospital which hired
him in its physical therapy/sports medicine department to work for the
team. A Wheeling native, Hanna received his master's degree in athletic
training from West Virginia University. He has also worked four seasons as
the head athletic trainer for the Wheeling indoor football team as well as
being a member of the coaching staff, along with his wife Carrie, for the
women's soccer team at Wheeling Jesuit University.
Greenville's Mark Burgess is in his 12th season in professional
hockey and in addition to working for the Grrrowl has worked for ECHL teams
in Baton Rouge, Charlotte and Huntington.
Russ Holden is in his first season with Reading after working for
Louisiana of the ECHL in 2003-04. Holden was the equipment manager for
Jackson of the ECHL from 1996-2000 and previously worked in the Western
Hockey League with Brandon and in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League
with Yorkton.
Brian Grogesky is in his fourth season as athletic trainer for the
Royals after serving as the trainer for the minor professional hockey
Reading Rage. Grogesky received his bachelor's degree in exercise science
with a minor in psychology from Penn State University and his master's
degree in sports medicine from West Virginia University. He has also served
as the head athletic trainer for Penn State University Scranton and the
University of Scranton and worked for two years with Berkshire Orthopedics.
