Royals Forward to Worcester; Snesrud and Denike Returned From Manchester

READING, PA –The Reading Royals have announced that rookie forward Peter Hay has been called up to the Worcester Icecats of the AHL. The Manchester Monarchs, the Royals American Hockey League affiliate, have reassigned goaltender Terry Denike and returned defenseman Mat Snesrud to Reading.

Hay earns his first promotion to the American Hockey League after attending training camp with the Hershey Bears (AHL). In 30 games this season, the rookie forward has nine goals and 17 points while racking up 18 minutes in penalties. His four game winning goals lead the Royals while ranking second amongst ECHL rookies. Hay will travel to Philadelphia to meet up with the Icecats tonight as they battle the Phantoms in the Wachovia Spectrum. The British Columbia native is expected to rejoin the Royals tomorrow night in their second straight game against Johnstown.

Goaltender Terry Denike has been reassigned to Reading by the Manchester Monarchs via the Witchita Thunder of the CHL. In two games in Witchita, Denike posted a 1-1-0 record with a 2.42 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. The 2001 draft choice of the LA Kings has made two starts for the Royals this year dropping both decisions.

Defenseman Mat Snesrud returns to Reading after making one start with the Manchester Monarchs (AHL). Snesrud was held scoreless and did register two penalty minutes. The Royals alternate captain has been a stalwart on the Royals blue line this season posting four goals and nine points in 28 games. Three of Snesrud's goals have come on the power play. The Cloquet, Minnesota native did appear in 29 games with the Monarchs last season and posted three assists and 12 penalty minutes.

The Reading Royals skate back into action this weekend at home with their first two games in 2004 against state rival, Johnstown. The first 2,500 fans through the gate tonight receive a Royals pompoms courtesy of Commonwealth Orthopaedics. Saturday, Riecks' Printing is handing out free Royals hockey trading cards to the first 2,000 that enter the Jungle.
