Holden and Grogesky to Represent Royals in All-Star Game

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that Russ Holden and Brian Grogesky have been selected as the equipment manager and trainer for the National Conference All-Star squad.

Russ Holden is in his first season as equipment manager for the Reading Royals. He rejoins coach Derek Clancey in Reading after serving in the same capacity in Jackson, Mississippi with the Bandits (1996-2000). Prior to his work in the ECHL, Holden was the equipment manager and athletic trainer for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League. He spent seven seasons with the Wheat Kings culminating in a Western Hockey League Championship in 1996. The Castor, Alberta native also served as the equipment manager and athletic trainer for the Yorkton Terriers of the Tier II Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League before his post in Brandon.

Brian Grogesky is in his fourth season with the Royals. The Penn State University graduate was hired in 2001 by Commonwealth Orthopaedics, the official training staff of the Reading Royals. His training experience extends over six years. He began his career with Penn State University (Scranton) and the University of Scranton as a trainer for all collegiate athletics in 1998-99. Grogesky relocated to Berks County in 1999 and worked for two years with Berkshire Orthopedics. His primary training role was with the minor league professional soccer team, the Reading Rage. Grogesky graduated from Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania in 1997. He received his bachelor of science degree in exercise science and a minor in psychology. He went on to pursue a masters degree in sports medicine at West Virginia University in 1998. Grogesky resides in Exeter, Pennsylvania with his wife Diana and son Kolin.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.

Get your tickets now as your Royals return to home ice after being on the road for three weeks. Reading welcomes West Division power Bakersfield to the Sovereign Center tomorrow night. Yuengling is handing out Royals license plate frames to the first 1,500 fans. Reading hosts division-rival Wheeling on Saturday, January 8th. St. Joseph Medical is handing out primary care kits to the first 1,500 fans through the gates. Both games face off at 7:05 p.m. ET.
