
National Conference All-Stars Named

PRINCETON, N.J. ñ The ECHL on Thursday announced the National
Conference starting lineup and roster for the 2005 Coors Light ECHL
All-Star Game on January 26 at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. There
are 12 rookies on the 21-man roster and 18 of the players will be making
their first ECHL All-Star appearance.
The starting lineups were determined in voting by National
Conference coaches, team captains, media relations directors, broadcasters
and newspaper writers. Coaches also submitted the top prospects from within
their conference that determined the final roster with each of the 16 teams
in the National Conference having a representative.

Atlantic City left wing Luke Curtin will be making his second start
and his third appearance in an ECHL All-Star Game. Curtin was named as a
starter in 2000 and selected to the South Conference roster in 1999 while
playing for Baton Rouge. Curtin leads the league in assists with 27 and is
tied for the league lead in power-play points with 14 and power-play
assists with 12 while ranking second in scoring with 36 points in 31 games.
Atlantic City rookie center Derek Edwardson leads league rookies in
plus-minus rating (+18) and is tied for second among league rookies with 14
goals while ranking third among rookies with 18 assists and 32 points in 28
games. The 23-year-old Edwardson ranks third overall in plus-minus rating
and is tied for sixth overall in scoring.
Under contract and currently on a call up to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the
American Hockey League, Wheeling goaltender Dany Sabourin leads the
league with a goals-against average of 1.60 and five shutouts, which is
also a team record. Sabourin is 16-5-1 and is second in the league in wins
and minutes (1,353) and ranks third in save percentage (.944).
Johnstown center Brent Kelly, who is currently on loan to Grand
Rapids of the AHL, leads the league with three shorthand assists and is
tied for 10th in scoring with 30 points (11g-19a) in 27 games. Johnstown
rookie center Jean Desrochers leads ECHL rookies with four
game-winning goals and ranks ninth among rookies with 25 points (10g-15a)
in 27 games.
Under contract to Lowell of the AHL, Las Vegas defenseman Jason
McBain is tied for seventh among ECHL defensemen with 19 points
(5g-14a) in 24 games. Currently on loan to Providence of the AHL where he
has eight penalty minutes in three games, Las Vegas rookie left wing
Dana Lattery is second on the team and tied for 13th among league
rookies with 23 points (10g-13a) in 26 games.
Making his second appearance and first start in an ECHL All-Star game is
Victoria defenseman Brad Dexter, who represented South Carolina in
2000. Dexter leads ECHL defensemen with 25 points, 19 assists, 12
power-play assists and 13 power-play points while he is tied for second
with six goals.
Fresno center Dan Tessier is tied for second in the league with
three shorthand goals and is tied for fourth in the league with four
game-winning goals. He ranks 16th in the league in scoring with 29 points
(11g-18a) in 31 games.
Reading rookie left wing Ryan Kinasewich is tied for fifth among
ECHL rookies with 27 points (12g-15a) in 24 games. Selected in the ninth
round (268th overall) by Chicago in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and under
contract to Manchester of the AHL, Reading rookie right wing Jeff
Miles is tied for seventh among league rookies with 26 points
(12g-14a).
Making his second appearance in an ECHL All-Star game is Long Beach
goaltender Chris Madden, who represented Macon in 2002. Selected in
the fourth round (97th overall) by Carolina in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft,
Madden is 12-2-0 with three shutouts. He leads the league with a save
percentage of .956 and ranks second with a goals-against average of 1.64.
Selected in the eighth round (255th overall) by Dallas in the 2001 NHL
Entry Draft and in his first professional season, Long Beach rookie center
Marco Rosa has scored 20 points (9g-11a) in 30 games.
In his first professional season and under contract to Hamilton of the
AHL, Peoria rookie defenseman James Sanford has scored 11 points
(2g-9a) in 24 games with the Rivermen. He has also played in two games with
Hamilton in the AHL, scoring one power-play goal.
In his first professional season and under contract to Philadelphia of the
NHL, Trenton rookie defenseman Stephen Wood is currently on a call
up to Philadelphia of the AHL where in eight games he has two penalty
minutes. In 20 games with Trenton, the 22-year-old Wood has 10 points
(2g-8a) and 27 penalty minutes.
Selected in the eighth round (238th overall) by the New York
Rangers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Toledo defenseman Danny Eberly
has scored 12 points (4g-8a) in 20 games.
Selected in the fifth round (150th overall) by Columbus in the 2000 NHL
Entry Draft and under contract to Syracuse of the AHL, Dayton rookie
Tyler Kolarik is 16th among league rookies with a team-leading 22
points on a team-high 11 goals in 30 games.
Selected in the ninth round (279th overall) by Los Angeles in the 2002 NHL
Entry Draft and under contract to Los Angeles of the NHL, Bakersfield
rookie Connor James is tied for the league lead among rookies with
three shorthand points and is tied for second among league rookies with two
shorthand goals. James has 19 points (9g-10a) and 20 penalty minutes in 24
games with Bakersfield and eight penalty minutes in six games with
Manchester of the AHL.
Under contract to Cincinnati of the AHL, San Diego rookie defenseman
Andy Canzanello has 12 points (2g-10a) and 25 penalty minutes in 25
games.
Alaska center Chris Minard leads the league with 19 goals and is
tied for second on the team with 27 points in 30 games.
Under contract to Utah of the AHL, Idaho rookie goaltender Frank
Doyle is 12-6-1 with two shutouts and he ranks fourth in the league in
goals-against average (2.07) and wins. Doyle is currently on a call up to
Utah where he has appeared in one game.
