Gator Play LLC membership in the ECHL terminated
January 6, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. â The ECHL announced on Thursday that the Board of Governors has voted to terminate the membership of Gator Play, LLC in the ECHL and approved the operation of the Louisiana IceGators by a corporation which will be owned, at least in part, by ECHL Properties LLC for the balance of the 2004-05 season.
The move preserves ECHL hockey for the fans of Louisiana and ensures the completion of the 2004-05 schedule.
"The IceGators were once a flagship team not just in the ECHL, but in all of minor league sports and the league is actively seeking a private ownership group to return the IceGators to their former luster," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna.
