Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

MOOSIC, PA - The New York Yankees have announced that pitcher Jonathan Loáisiga will have his Major League rehab assignment transferred to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. The right-hander is slated to pitch in relief this evening as the RailRiders open a six-game series against the Louisville Bats at PNC Field.

Loáisiga, 27, was placed on the Yankees 15-Day Injured List retroactive to May 23 with right shoulder inflammation. He has appeared in 18 games for New York this season, going 1-2 with a 7.02 ERA.

The Managua, Nicaragua, native was initially signed in 2012 by the San Francisco Giants and joined the Yankees organization in 2016. Loáisiga made his Major League debut in 2018 and carries a 17-8 career mark with a 3.73 ERA over 111 games, 100 of which have been in relief.

Loáisiga will be the fourth New York Yankees player to appear for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this year on a rehab assignment, joining Domingo Germán, who is currently still on the roster, in addition to Tim Locastro and Aroldis Chapman.

Gates open at 5:30 P.M. tonight with a first pitch at 6:35 as Clarke Schmidt makes the start for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre against Louisville's Justin Dunn, who is on a MLB rehab of his own from the Cincinnati Reds.
