Saints and Mud Hens Suspended in Second Inning, Will Resume on Wednesday

ST. PAUL, MN - Mother Nature hasn't been much of an issue for the St. Paul Saints since late May. She came calling on Tuesday night at CHS Field. The Saints and Toledo Mud Hens were suspended in the bottom of the second inning with the Saints leading 4-3. The game will resume on Wednesday at 5:07 p.m. and is a nine-inning contest. The regularly scheduled game will follow approximately 30-minutes at the conclusion of the resumed game and is scheduled for seven innings.

Michael Helman led off the Saints first with a solo homer to right, his fifth of the season, putting the Saints up 1-0. It's the 10th straight game the Saints have homered, the longest current streak in Minor League Baseball. With one out, Miguel Sanó walked, moved to second on a single to left by Tim Beckham, and scored on Mark Contreras' RBI double to left putting the Saints up 2-0.

The Mud Hens responded in the second inning as Josh Lester led off with a solo homer to right-center, his 15th of the season, making it 2-1. Daz Cameron followed with a double and, with one out, Jamie Westbrook doubled home Cameron tying the game at two. Zach Short walked and with two outs Derek Hill walked to load the bases. Kody Clemens put the Mud Hens up 3-2 with an RBI single to right.

The Saints grabbed two runs before play was halted in the bottom of the second courtesy of Sanó. Jermaine Palacios walked and John Andreoli doubled to center putting runners at second and third. With two outs, Sanó roped a two-run double to the gap in right-center giving the Saints a 4-3 lead. Tim Beckham stepped to the plate and drew the count full when the rain and lightning came halting play.

Fans who had tickets to Tuesday's game can exchange their tickets for any regular season game the rest of the season. Fans that have tickets to Wednesday's game may use their ticket for both games.

Both games can be seen on the Saints Broadcast Network, cable access channels in and around the Twin Cities area, and MiLB.TV and heard on KFAN Plus, 96.7 FM.
