Grandal to Start Rehab Tuesday at Truist Field

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Chicago White Sox catcher Yasmaní Grandal, a two-time MLB All-Star, will begin a Major League Baseball rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights tonight at Truist Field. First pitch of tonight's game against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies) is set for 7:04 p.m.

Grandal, 33, was originally placed on Chicago's 10-day injured list on June 13 (retroactive to June 12) with lower back spasms. He recently began a rehab assignment with Double-A Birmingham on July 7 and appeared in three games with the team. He hit .429 (3-for-7) with one run scored, one home run and four RBIs with the Barons.

Overall this season with the White Sox, Grandal has appeared in 50 games and is hitting .185 (32-for-173) with six runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and 15 RBIs.

The Knights open a six-game series against the IronPigs tonight from Truist Field.
