Louisville Bats News Release

MOOSIC, PA- The Louisville Bats (34-50) had their three-game win streak snapped by the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (41-42) on Tuesday night at PNC Field.

Scranton struck first in the home half of the second when a base hit and a defensive miscue allowed Derek Dietrich to score all the way from first. Dietrich would later be removed from the game after noticeably developing a limp following a baserunning play in the inning.

Louisville quickly evened the score in the following half inning when Jose Barerro launched a moonshot fly ball that scraped the wall, narrowly missing a round-tripper, doubling home TJ Friedl from first base.

Scranton put a crooked number on the board immediately following Louisville's answer, scratching four runs in the bottom of the third. The big inning was spearheaded by a two-run homer from Oswaldo Cabrera, with Greg Bird and Armando Alvarez each notching RBI-singles to push the Scranton advantage to 5-1.

Louisville got a run back in the sixth when designated hitter Colin Moran roped an RBI-double into center -- his second double of the contest. Moran finished the day going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and the one RBI.

Jose Barrero, TJ Friedl and Lorenzo Cedrola also each had a multi-hit games for the Bats, with Cedrola going 2-for-4. It was his team-leading 26th multi-hit game of the season.

The Bats' threatened with runners in scoring position on other occasions following the Moran double, but were unable to add to their score, bringing their three-game win streak to an end.

Scranton poured on the insurance runs late, including back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the eighth from Josh Breaux and former Bat, Jake Bauers.

After a brief pop-up shower added a 24 minute long rain delay in the ninth inning, the game was wrapped up quickly with Louisville ultimately losing the game by a final score of 11-2.

Game two of the six game set is scheduled for tomorrow night (July 13) at PNC Field with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m. Right-hander Randy Wynne (2-9, 4.79) will get the nod for the Bats, while southpaw Matt Krook (5-6, 4.05) will take the hill for the RailRiders.
