
Lennerton, Rockett Flex Muscles in Losing Effort

The SeaWolves could not hold an early lead on Monday night at Metro Bank Park as they dropped their second straight to the Senators 8-5.
The SeaWolves struck in the top of the first inning against Senators starter Paul Demny. With one out, Niuman Romero was hit by a pitch and he moved into scoring position on a Nick Castellanos single. Jordan Lennerton followed and connected on an opposite-field home run, his 17th. The blast put the SeaWolves ahead 3-0.
Erie added to its lead in the second. James McCann walked to lead off the inning and with one out Michael Rockett connected on an opposite-field home run, his third, and second at Metro Bank Park making it 5-0 Erie.
The Senators struck back in a big way in the fourth. Eury Perez and Jeff Kobernus each singled. With one out, Chris Rahl singled home Perez making it a 5-1 game. Destin Hood followed with a three-run home run to left, making it a one-run game at 5-4.
The 'Wolves lead disappeared in the seventh against reliever Jared Gahart. With one out, Jeff Kobernus singled and stole second. He scored on a Jesus Valdez triple tying the game. Chris Rhal was then hit by a pitch, putting runners on the corners. Hood followed with a sacrifice fly to right to make it 6-5 Senators. On the fly ball, Rahl moved to second, he then stole third and scored on a Ryan Robowski wild pitch making it 7-5 Harrisburg. Zach Walters doubled and scored on a Sandy Leon single capping a four-run inning and an 8-5 Harrisburg lead. Erie would get no closer.
Harrisburg pitchers Pat McCoy and Hector Nelo retired the final six hitters of the game giving the Senators the win.
De La Cruz took a no-decision allowing four runs on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
Gayhart (1-1) took the loss allowing three runs on four hits in 1.2 innings in relief.
The SeaWolves and Senators meet in the final game of the four game series on Tuesday night at Metro Bank Park.7:00 First Pitch. Righty Patrick Cooper (2-1, 5.20 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against former Tigers pitcher RHP Ryan Perry (0-1, 2.70 ERA).
