Rock Cats Battered by Bowie 11-2

New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats lost to the Bowie BaySox Monday night at New Britain Stadium 11-2. The Orioles affiliate used a six run 5th inning to put away the Rock Cats in the third game of a four game series.

The Cats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a 2-out RBI single by Chris Colabello. New Britain starter Shairon Martis retired the first nine batters and had a 1-0 lead after three innings.

However, in the fourth, the BaySox got a 2-run single by Orioles prospect Manny Machado to give Bowie a 2-1 lead. Bowie then scored six times in the 5th inning, chasing Martis from the game. RBI hits from Josh Barfield, Machado, Rhyne Hughes, and Buck Britton gave Bowie an 8-1 lead after five innings.

The Rock Cats made it 8-2 on an RBI single to centerfield by Evan Bigley his 55th of the season. The BaySox added three in the 9th off reliever Daniel Turpen.

The two clubs wrap up the four game series on Tuesday night at New Britain Stadium at 7:05. LHP Blake Martin will pitch for New Britain and RHP Bobby Bundy will start for Bowie. The game will be followed by a fireworks show.
