Destin Hood Leads Sens to 8-5 Win over Erie

On Monday night at Metro Bank Park, the Senators rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat Erie 8-5. Destin Hood hit a three-run home run, and drove in the go ahead run with a sacrifice fly giving the Sens the win. The deficit was the largest overcome this year for a Senators win.

Erie scored five times in the first two innings off Sens' starter Paul Demny. In the first, Jordan Lennerton hit a three-run home run and Michael Rockett added a two-run shot in the second giving Erie their 5-0 lead.

Harrisburg started their rally in the fourth inning when Eury Perez singled, Jeff Kobernus singled, and then with one out, Chris Rahl drove in Perez with a single to left trimming the deficit to 5-1. Hood then unloaded a three-run home run making the score 5-4 Erie.

With the score still 5-4 Erie, Harrisburg rallied for four runs in the seventh inning. Jesus Valdez tripled Kobernus to tie the game. Hood then drove in Valdez with the lead run with a sacrifice fly and on the play, Chris Rahl, who had been hit by a pitch, took second. Rahl then stole third and then scored on a wild pitch. Zach Walters kept the inning alive with a double and he scored on a single by Sandy Leon giving the Senators an 8-5 lead.

Pat McCoy pitched a perfect inning and a third and earned the win. Hector Nelo pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his ninth save on the season.

The Senators pounded out 12 hits in the game as Jeff Kobernus had three hits and Chris Rahl, Destin Hood, Zach Walters all had two hits.

The Senators look for a series win and a winning homestand on Tuesday night as they close out their eight-game homestand with a 7:00 p.m. game against Erie.
