
Rock Cats Release Second Half Promotional Schedule

New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, has released its second half promotional schedule filled with premium giveaways, never seen entertainment acts and a special appearance by Hall of Fame University of Connecticut Basketball Coach Jim Calhoun and former Red Sox star Outfielder Ellis Burks.
The second half of the season officially begins on Thursday, July 12 at 7:05 with Military Appreciation Night and first 1,000 fans will receive a camouflage draw string bag giveaway. All active service member and veterans will receive a complementary general admission ticket to the game, courtesy of Outback Steakhouse. The Rock Cats will be honoring the Military with an on-field ceremony prior to the game and raising money for "Operation Homefront."
One of the most popular annual events, Bark in the Park, will take place on Monday, July 16 as part of a single admission double-header at 5:35. This event allows fans to bring their dog to the ballpark and parade their pets around the field before the first pitch of the second game. Also, a portion of each dog ticket sold will benefit several canine-related charities. Dog tickets include access to the "Doggie Zone" area of the ballpark, unlimited water and a "doggie goodie bag."
The New Britain Rock Cats 30th Anniversary Celebration will take place on Saturday August 4. Former Red Sox Outfielder Ellis Burks will be greeting fans and signing autographs. Burks played in New Britain in 1985 and again in 1986 before going to Boston and becoming a Major League All-Star during his 18 year big league career.
The Russian Bar Trio Entertainment Act will perform their high flying routine at New Britain Stadium for the first time on Sunday, August 5th. After being featured on America's Got Talent and appearances on Oprah and The Ellen Show, the Russian Bar Trio is on tour and making a stop in New Britain!
Courtesy of Webster Bank, on Wednesday, August 22, the University of Connecticut Men's Basketball Coach Jim Calhoun will be at New Britain Stadium and kids 12 and under will receive a mini-Rock Cats basketball. Calhoun has led the UConn Huskies to three National Championships in 1999, 2004 and again in 2011. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005.
The Rock Cats will conclude the 2012 regular season with our inaugural "Field of Dreams" and FANdemonium! A unique nod to the popular baseball movie, players from the team will emerge from corn stalks in centerfield and make their way into the stands to shake hands and thank fans for their support this season. In addition, fans will have ample opportunity to win great prizes and memorabilia throughout the day all starting with the 2012 Rock Cats MVP Poster Giveaway.
